Woodfired Ceramics
Unlike standard electric or gas firings… woodfirings take days of preparation. Wood must be gathered. Enough to burn for about 14 hours. The door to the kiln has to be rebuilt before each firing and then the fire has to be stoked until the internal temperature reaches 1300 degrees celsius.
Flame and ash hurtle around the inside of the kiln, kissing the pots and leaving a truly unique path. All firings bring slightly different results and each piece will be distinctive in its own way.
